Elvis was a one of a kind. One of the greatest dogs I've ever been blessed with.
El lived for tennis balls...enjoyed leaping to great heights to catch them and mastered carrying three in his mouth at a time! El loved jumping into the pool and fetching just about anything.
Elvis was in love with his stuffed toy we called "baby" and slept with it faithfully every night. "E" would even find time during the day to sneak in some "Baby" time.
"E" would play for hours with 'the boys' even if they could only manage to roll a tennis ball on the floor a few inches...he would tap it with his nose and roll it right back to them.
Elvis was such a beautiful little pup. At only about 5 weeks old he was so tiny. He needed some special feedings at first, but he was healthy and strong. He was charcoal black and had the cutest Labrador tongue with black spots and patterns all over it.
Right from the getgo, El was the sweetest cuddler. He never lost his snuggly side throughout his life into his senior years, It wasn't that he was needy, he was just a lover at heart.
Elvis and "Baby" grew up together. As "Baby" wore out, we got a larger one to replace it lol...He never went without a "Baby" in his life. He would suckle it like it was his Mommy...probably because he was taken away as a pup way too early because his Mommy got sick...
Elvis was a wonderful puppy. He became very attached to us quickly since we had him from around 5 weeks old.
Even with this initial detriment, he became a confident, loyal, obedient and protective doggo.
Elvis, Tobie & Gizmo were always so cooperative when it came to taking Kodak moments, they would let us dress them up and pose them. This made for some beautiful Christmas cards and wall calendars. they were the best!
It was a rare moment to find El without a tennis ball either in his mouth or by his side. He was amazing at playing fetch and catch. Frisbees, tennis balls, just about anything. He would soar through the air his body twisting and turning as he reached out at just the right moment and angle to grab the ball. He was also a master at ground

He would've made a great shortstop!
Christmas at Grampa Jack's...
the pups occasionally visited with Grandpa Jack in PA. My dad really enjoyed playing fetch with El, Elvis would always drop the ball in your hand, unlike Beau,,,he doesn't like to let go of the ball until he has chewed it and swirled it around in his mouth just the right amount of times...we still don't know how many that is LOL...
Elvis, my boy.
I miss you every day.
I think of you fondly with tears in my eyes, even as I write these memoires down.
You were truly man's best friend and a free spirit sent by God.
