...and in Christmas 2010 what to our wondering eyes should appear, that the Conklin boys made the nice list that year. Under the Christmas tree, Santa Claus left a magical snow globe with a picture of this tiny Goldendoodle puppy in it.
With the snow globe was a list of instructions detailing where and when the Conklin's could find this little sandy red bundle of fluff that Santa picked out just for them.
Santa even named the puppy after his favorite elf from the Christmas movie Santa Paws.

So, on New Year's Eve, the Conklin's hooked up their four-wheeled sleigh and traveled over the meadows and through the woods to pick up the newest member of the family, Eli.
Let the reindeer games begin!
Practicing the deke and move running maneuver.
Eli worked hard at helping Jonah develop his classic running style. Here they can be seen practicing the classic football carry/arm sway.
Aaron was very focused on making Eli comfortable in his new home. He spent the first 20 minutes of Eli's arrival in his crate with him. Then throughout the day
this little 2 year old sat for over an hour with his coat and boots on, just holding his new best friend.
While cuddling and massaging the new boy, Aaron imparted some much needed instructions and information of what the new family member would need to know. For example, where the biscuits are, what fun shows they watch on the Disney channel, and how important it is to run and play.
Little did Aaron know that sharing a juice box with Eli, would result in a lifetime love of all things human food. He was known to eat a box of Smidgens, any slice of pizza within reach, loaves of bread, a cake left on the counter, and just about anything else he could get his paws on. But with that cute face, how could you scold him?
The pup, the myth, the legend!
In his adolescence, he once ate a full bag of calming chews (meant for his little brother Zeke to travel). After calling animal poison control they said to give him Hydrogen Peroxide to help him vomit. Only Eli could enjoy the taste of Peroxide, whine for more, and not throw up! Don't worry though, he went to the vet, was given charcoal and all was well.
Eli was the best smiler. Whenever it was photo time you could always count on Eli to rise to the occasion. All you had to do was say "Smile Eli" and snap, there it was... a big toothy grin from ear to ear. Sometimes even with a little dog speak to go with it.
I've seen your picture
Your name in lights above it
This is your big debut
It's like a dream come true
So won't you smile for the camera
I know they're gonna love it, Eli.
Aaron and Eli with their matching PJ's. Eli was such a good sport. Eli would put up with just about anything. As long as he got those pats on the head, he was a happy boy. He was an amazing dog.
Caleb and Eli shared many magical moments together. This is when Eli developed his love for shenani-grins. As soon as Caleb gave the big fluffernutter a hug, Eli flashed 'the smile'.
